A resin-bound driveway combines aggregate with resin to create a continuous stone finish. Landscape Gardener of Kent can discuss resin driveway installation in Deal, including base condition, aggregate blends, edging and drainage. An attractive sample is the starting point; the complete build needs to suit the parking area.
In a resin-bound system the aggregate and binder are mixed before laying. Resin-bonded surfacing applies aggregate onto a resin layer and gives a different texture and drainage behaviour.
Confirm which system is specified in the quotation. Loose gravel is another construction again, so a price for stone spread over a base is not a resin-bound installation price.
Our completed Deal garden includes a resin-bound centre beside sandstone and decking. It is a garden example, not evidence of a vehicle driveway or its load specification.
A resin finish follows the behaviour of its supporting construction. Movement, unstable patches and cracks need investigating before an overlay is proposed.
Check levels at the entrance, thresholds, edges and covers. Adding a layer may reduce available clearance or create an awkward connection to retained areas.
For a new build, the required base and resin system should be designed together for vehicle use. Clarify surface depth, aggregate grading and compatibility with the proposed supporting layers.
A porous resin-bound surface needs a suitable supporting system and drainage destination. Water passing through the top layer can still be obstructed below.
An overlay onto an impermeable base may require a different drainage arrangement. Ask how water reaches an appropriate outlet or infiltration area rather than accept a general claim of automatic SuDS compliance.
The front-garden paving rules in England also depend on drainage and the proposal. See the Planning Portal patio and driveway guidance, and check additional restrictions for your property.
Look at aggregate samples near the brickwork, paving and planting that will remain. Consider the finished texture as well as the colour and how the edging frames the drive.
Confirm the binder’s UV-stability specification and the manufacturer’s recommended materials. Agree transitions around manholes, steps and thresholds before laying.
A border can make the driveway outline clear, but it needs to suit the construction and planned water route.
Preparation, base replacement, drainage, edging and access can be more significant than a small difference between aggregate blends. Compare an overlay price with another overlay and a full excavation with another full build.
Resin surfacing is worth considering where you want a continuous aggregate appearance and accept the specified care. It is not immune to base movement, staining or damage; patch repairs may remain visible.
Ask what the quote includes, any written warranty conditions and the required curing period. Do not rely on another installer’s advertised lifespan or guarantee as a promise for your job.
Sweep away leaves and debris and follow the installed system’s aftercare instructions. Oil, spills and biological growth need suitable treatment rather than abrasive improvisation.
Some resin-bound manufacturers permit controlled pressure washing. The nozzle, pressure and distance must follow the actual product guidance; avoid assuming every jet-wash setting is safe.
Agree the dates for foot traffic and parking using the specified binder and installation conditions. Weather affects the programme, and a generic 24-hour statement is not a substitute for handover advice.
Discuss driveways in Deal, gravel driveways in Deal, block paving in Deal. Agree levels, access and the order of work together where the project includes several improvements.
Deal patio, decking and pergola shows the multi-material garden. Deal decking and railings shows a separate raised terrace. Use the labelled photographs to discuss the layout you have in mind.
Planning Portal: paving your front garden explains the English planning requirements. Check the proposal and any property restrictions before work.
Resin Bound Aggregates maintenance guidance illustrates why cleaning pressure and methods need limits. Follow the installed system’s own aftercare instructions.
Ask for the full scope: base assessment or excavation, supporting layers, resin system, edges, drainage, removal and VAT. Overlay and new-build quotations are different.
Base movement can affect the finish, repairs can be noticeable and suitable cleaning is still needed. Installation and curing depend on the system and conditions.
Compare the appearance, maintenance and complete construction price with alternatives. The right choice depends on how you use the drive and the condition of the site.
Some systems allow it within manufacturer limits. Follow the guidance for the installed product and avoid aggressive settings or concentrated jets.
No. The whole supporting construction and outlet or infiltration route determine drainage.
A compatible system may allow it after assessment, but cracks, levels and drainage need checking first.
Use the installer’s confirmed handover schedule for the actual binder and weather rather than a fixed online waiting time.
Our Deal multi-material garden includes a resin-bound centre. It is clearly described as garden surfacing, not a vehicle driveway.
OUR WORK · KENT
Request the proposed system, aggregate blend and binder specification in writing. Ask how the construction suits traffic and the existing or new base. Product suitability, UV characteristics and maintenance requirements should be established for the materials actually quoted, rather than inferred from an aggregate colour.
Discuss local repairs and future alterations, such as access to a buried service. Matching an older finish may be difficult. Keep the product details and handover so later care can follow the installed system. Where a quote retains a base, establish what checks and repairs are included before resin is laid.
Use the same agreed scope when comparing proposals. Confirm the materials and work below the visible finish, together with any retained construction. Ask how exclusions or provisional work will be handled and keep the written specification with the quotation.
Photographs, dimensions and access details help define the work. They can start the discussion, with a visit or further assessment where needed. A quoted total is useful when it is clear what the finished result includes.
Agree the programme after the scope and materials are confirmed. Include delivery arrangements, protection of retained features and any periods when the area cannot be used. At handover, confirm how the completed work should be used and cared for, and retain the relevant product details.
